Prof. Dr. Steven S. Witkin

Steven S. Witkin is currently an Emeritus Professor at Weill Cornell Medicine in New York. He was the Director of The Division of Immunology and Infectious Diseases and a Distinguished Professor of Infection and Immunology at the same medical school.

He received his PhD in Microbiology from the University of California Los Angeles, was a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Roche Institute of Molecular Biology, a Staff Associate at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, a Faculty Member at The Sloan-Kettering Institute for Cancer Research, and, in succession, Associate Professor, Professor and then the Willian Ledger Distinguished Professor at Weill Cornell Medicine of Cornell University.

Prof. Witkin has published more than 400 papers in peer-reviewed journals and supervised more than 50 fellows from all of the world. He is currently an Editor of The British Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology (BJOG) and a member of the Editorial Board of several scientific journals. His areas of expertise include research in Immunology, Bacterial, Fungal and Viral Infections, Genetics and the Microbiome and Virome in disease and health.
